Join us Thurs., June 16, 5 – 7 pm as journalist and storyteller Tom Poland signs copies of his newest book Georgialina: A Southland as We Know It (USC Press, pb., 167 pp, $18.95).
Poland takes his readers down back roads to old homesteads, covered bridges, country stores, on hunts for Confederate gold, to dances on the beach, bringing to life the often-forgotten unfiltered character of the South. Set in Georgia and South Carolina, his tales of bygone times resonate across a southern landscape and recall the history and lore that define the South.
Tom Poland is the author of twelve books and more than 1,000 magazine features. Tom grew up in Lincoln County, Georgia, where four wonderful English teachers gave him a love for language. People first came to know Tom’s work in South Carolina Wildlife magazine, where he wrote features and served as managing editor. He now lives in Columbia, South Carolina, where he writes about Georgialina–his name for eastern Georgia and South Carolina.
