A few hot items from Blue Bicycle Books, Charleston:

Holidays on Ice by David Sedaris, first edition, first issue, with cover photo of Santa at the urinal. Signed bookplate. Throw your head back laughing like a little kid. $125.

Dracula: A Toy Theatre. The sets and costumes of the Broadway production of the play designed by Edward Gorey. We knew this one was trouble when it walked in. Signed by Edward Gorey. $175.

Home by the River by Archibald Rutledge. No DJ. Signed and inscribed. $125. There was a blank space baby, and he wrote his name — twice!

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. First ed., later printing. How much for this one? I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling…$22.

My True Love Gave to Me. Holiday young adult anthology signed by Stephanie Perkins, David Levithan, Rainbow Rowell, and Gayle Forman. It’s a love story collection, baby just say yes! $95.

A is for Anything by Katharina Barry. “N is for Newsboy / who’s not very tidy. / He brings Thursday’s newspaper / around on Friday.” A 1961 ABC picture book, using old wooden type. I’ve been spending the last eight months wondering why no one has bought this little gem. $39.

Once Upon an Alphabet by Oliver Jeffers. “N is for nearly nine thousand,” as in, this is how many envelopes will fit inside an elephant. $27.

A Little Princess and The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett, each illustrated by Tasha Tudor. Kanye West tried to snatch these from us. $20 each.

Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell, signed by the author. “Holding Eleanor’s hand was like holding a butterfly. Or a heartbeat.” (Okay, not a Taylor Swift lyric, but come on — so lovely.)  $19.

The Third Plate by Dan Barber. Thorough and readable look at the future of food production without using buzzwords like “sustainable,” “organic,” or “Shake it off.” $30.

The Bone Clocks by David Mitchell. Magic, madness, heaven, sin. $30.

10:04 by Ben Lerner. Ultra poetic second novel never misses a beat, is lightning on its feet.

Heritage by Sean Brock. When it feels like a perfect night for breakfast (or lunch or dinner) at midnight. $40

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Book club edition, signed by Harper Lee. $1,750.

Touching it is like realizing all you ever wanted is right there in front of you.

Every Building on the Sunset Strip by Ed Ruscha. The original Google street view by the consummate LA artist. First edition, second issue, 1966. $1,995. Like OH MY GOD.
