About the book. In The Prince of Tides, Conroy wrote: “In families, there are no crimes beyond forgiveness;” and in his newest memoir he puts this to the test. Following his tumultuous relationship with his father, who served as inspiration for the central figure in the controversial novel The Great Santini, Conroy offers both a cathartic account of personal struggle as well as a lesson in how the bonds of family can not only suffocate but also sometimes provide relief.

About the author. Pat Conroy is the author of more than ten books of fiction and nonfiction. Born in Atlanta, Conroy attended the Citadel, where he wrote his first book The Boo, and has been a Lowcountry staple ever since. He currently lives in Beaufort with his wife, novelist Cassandra King. (Note: Cassandra will be at Blue Bike Sat., Sept. 7 for a special author luncheon! Buy tickets here).

Joining Pat will be his friend and fellow author Bryan Bender, signing You Are Not Forgotten: The Story of a Lost World War II Pilot and a Twenty-First-Century Soldier’s Mission to Bring Him Home (Doubleday, hb., 336 pp., $27).
