Kakalak 2009, Fri. Oct. 16 5 – 7 pm. Blue Bicycle Books hosts the 4th annual Charleston release party for Kakalak 2009: Anthology of Carolina Poets. The reading, one of the Blue Bike’s most popular annual events, will take place in our adjacent courtyard. I have to say that last year’s is one of the best poetry readings I’ve ever seen, poignant and funny and most of all very particular to Charleston. For insance see below Ellen Hyatt’s poem about the legendary Magar Hatworks, one of pioneers in making Upper King a hipster destination.
The Kakalak anthology features writers from North and South Carolina. Local poets reading and signing books will include Susan Meyers, Dennis Ward Stiles, Lynn Stanton, Kit Loney, Jim Lundy, Ellyn Hyatt and more. Reception to follow.
