A Fistfight Over Commas — Jonny Miles

Garden & Gun Magazine hosted a party for Jonny Miles in the narrow courtyard three doors down — white wine and Red Stripes from Charleston Green Home. Jonny’s story on the Blind Boys of Alabama is in the current issue of Garden & Gun, and he spoke about his first meeting with G&G editor Sid Evans, when they were both new to the business.

“Sid basically pulled me out of the slush pile when he was working at Sports Afield. I flew to New York to meet with him in the Hearst Building. He was the first New York editor I’d ever worked with and I had these visions of this manly office with elk and record hunts mounted on the wall, and then we’d go out to Elaine’s for lunch and get in this huge fistfight over commas. I think we actually just went out for tacos.”
