Mary Alice Monroe and Nathalie Dupree
“Consider the Shrimp”
The Blue Bicycle Books Authors Luncheon Series continues this summer with a meal of and about local shrimp, featuring local writers Mary Alice Monroe and Nathalie Dupree.
Monroe’s latest novel, Last Light Over Carolina (Pocket Books, July 2009) unfolds over the course of a single day, when a McClellanville shrimp boat captain is injured at sea. Joining her is James Beard-award-winning chef and food writer Nathalie Dupree, author of Nathalie Dupree’s Shrimp and Grits, New Southern Cooking and many others.
The talk and a lunch of local shrimp-and-grits will be at Fish Restaurant, 442 King St., followed by a champagne and dessert book signing at Blue Bicycle Books, 420 King St.
Friday, July 24, 2009, 1 – 3 pm, $35. Advance reservations required. For tickets please call 843.722.2666.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Sustainable Seafood Initiative.
